Gum disease (periodontitis) is the most common cause of tooth loss in people over the age of 30!
If plaque and calculus that forms around teeth is not removed every day, it can cause inflammation of the gums and eventually, bone loss and gum recession. If bone levels continue to recede, the teeth can become loose and eventually be lost.
How to prevent and treat gum disease:
1. Visit our Hygienists every 6 months for a professional clean – they can remove built-up plaque and calculus in areas that are impossible for you to clean yourself! At each visit they will assess any changes in your gum and bone health, review your oral hygiene and tailor their recommendations specific to your needs.
2. Maintain immaculate oral hygiene at home – brushing twice daily for at least 2 minutes, flossing and using Piksters daily as recommended by your Dentist and Hygienist.
Only clean the teeth you want to keep!
