Teeth Whitening

Teeth can discolour over time due to extrinsic or intrinsic staining.

Extrinsic surface staining occurs through buildup of plaque, tartar, coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco and other staining substances. Intrinsic staining affects the internal tooth structure, which can be caused by certain medical conditions and medications, fluorosis or trauma to the tooth/nerve

To refresh and brighten your smile, professional teeth whitening is sometimes required

As dental professionals we can safely provide teeth whitening treatment with active ingredients hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. By causing an oxidation reaction targeting the chromogens (stained colour molecules) within your tooth, we can change the chemical composition to brighten your teeth from within. These products are safer and more effective than supermarket and DIY methods.

We offer two professional teeth whitening methods:

1) Philips Zoom! in-chair whitening
Want a bright smile fast, without any hassle? This is the treatment for you!
Philips Zoom! whitening is completed in the dental chair over two hours with the use of an activating LED light to accelerate the whitening process. You will leave your appointment with the whitening completed! We will also provide you with custom whitening trays to touch-up your bright smile at home for long-term maintenance.

2) Take-home whitening kit
We will make you custom whitening trays, and provide syringes of whitening gel to apply yourself at home. This treatment can be administered for 30 minutes every night for up to 14 days (depending on your individual whitening needs). This is most suited to individuals who wish to have more control and flexibility over the whitening process, and those who experience tooth sensitivity as the whitening is more gradual and gentle (while still providing a fantastic end result!). Provided there is no movement of your teeth, these custom trays can be reused for future whitening touch-ups by simply purchasing additional whitening gel from our practice.

*A check-up and clean is essential prior to tooth whitening to ensure it can be completed safely and effectively.

The Importance of Preventive Dental Care

The Importance of Preventive Dental Care

Regular dental check-ups, cleans and preventive care is vital for early identification of tooth decay, dental infections, and periodontal disease. If caught early, treatment is simpler, cheaper, and less likely to result in a dental emergency.

Without regular attendance, you could end up in pain, and the dental work required is likely to be more complex and costly.

In 2019-20, 67,000 preventable hospitalisations occurred due to dental emergencies (AIHW, 2022). These all could have been avoided with regular dental care and early intervention.

In the absence of medicare rebate towards dental services, cost is a significant prohibitor to accessing dental care. In particular, 45% of Australians 35 years old and younger don’t have private health insurance contributing towards their dental visits (AIHW, 2022).

This is where we can help. For new patients aged 18-35, we are offering a $199 special including a full check-up, clean, any required x-rays and fluoride treatment. During this appointment, one of our experienced dentists will provide you with a tailored treatment plan and detailed quote for any further treatment required.
